Quality Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Engineer to oversee and enhance our quality assurance and quality control processes. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with industry standards, including IATF16949, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. This role involves collaborating with various departments to implement effective quality management systems and ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality. Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to. Ensure incoming materials meet required quality standards.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with IATF 16949 standards and requirements.
  • Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty).
  • Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.
  • Analyze data from quality inspections to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement. (SPC)
  • Lead project management initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to fabricate products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Manage QA/QC documentation and ensure proper record-keeping for compliance purposes.
  • Drive root cause analysis teams for external and internal non-conformance issues, implement corrective actions and validate effectiveness.
  • Carry out product and process auditing.
  • Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor?s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, techniques, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Strong Knowledge on IATF 16949 Requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to present data effectively.
  • GD&T Knowledge preferable.
  • CMM Programing is a plus.

Production Manager

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: the production manager directs and manages production on all shifts. Responsible for working with other supervisors and managers throughout the organization. Develops and maintains a highly motivated second shift organization capable of achieving production goals and objectives. Establishes departmental goals consistent with those of the department and company. Regularly track, monitor and follow up on productivity/efficiency of employees and provide developmental coaching where needed. Meet/exceed OEE/KPI. Responsible for development, tracking, adjusting and monitoring of the department budget. Conceives, develops and implements programs and procedures to improve department productivity and quality. Implements action plans to effectively utilize people and programs such as health and safety, work groups, etc. Consistently ensure departmental discipline and adherence to policies, procedures and work instructions for all employees. Performs administrative activities necessary for effective management. KPI reporting. Implement manufacturing improvements. Estimate costs and prepare budget. Liaison with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements. Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines. Monitor production to resolve issues. Ensure output meets quality standards.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Industrial or Production Engineering, or related, and one year experience in production, manufacturing, quality control or related. Send resume to hdean@yamamotofb.com


Die Shop Supervisor

Responsibilities: Analyze and improve the existing fine blanking DIES, follow up on the improvement results, confirm the effectiveness. Training local workers on various technical tasks, including stamping dies and product specifications, performance, functions, quality, tools, and processes. Oversee 3D CAD/CAM (CNC programming) for die manufacturing processes. Serve as a technical liaison between the Japanese parent company and US employer on technical progress including product manufacturing and quality in Japanese. Annual trip to Japan required.

Must have 2 years of experience in job offered or related (Engineer), including designing, developing, and manufacturing various dies using 3D CAD/CAM (CNC programming), and ability to read, write, and speak Japanese. Send resume to hdean@yamamotofb.com


Production Supervisor

Responsibilities: directs and manages production. Work with quality, maintenance, shipping/receiving, and human resources. Develops and maintains a highly motivated plant organization capable of achieving production goals and objectives. Establishes departmental goals consistent with those of the division and company. Meets/exceeds OEE/KPI. Develops and monitors production budgets. Conceives, develops and implements programs and procedures to improve department productivity and quality. Implements action plans to effectively utilize people and programs such as, safety and health, work groups, etc. Administers plant policies in fair and consistent manner. Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the operations, including provision for the selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department. Administration of company policies in fair and consistent manner.

Must have a bachelors degree, or its foreign degree equivalent, in electrical engineering, automotive engineering or related field, and 3 years experience in manufacturing, industrial production or related. Send resume to hdean@yamamotofb.com
